Live in North Lanarkshire and want to nurture your sense of place, pride and wellbeing? Meet others interested in their towns and villages.
Fancy trying something new? Or just get out the house and have a sociable and interesting day at Summerlee. Our Heritage In Focus Taster Sessions could be just the thing for you. Together, we will identify what you value from the past that you want to pass on to future generations. Let’s learn the nuts and bolts of improving our towns and villages and take part in a rewarding experience.
Principally aimed at adults, our Heritage in Focus Taster Sessions are led by experts who will introduce you the basic skills in heritage development. Topics include: creating a walking heritage tour; recording people’s stories and experiences; and how to celebrate your town or village. You don’t need any experience and you won’t be asked to write anything or do any tests. It’s intended to be informal and engaging.
This is an in-person programme. We will be learning and doing activities together in classrooms. We will be visiting venues and exploring behind-the-scenes. We will be handling equipment such as computers, scanners and sound recorders.
You can come along for just specific days, or for the full programme. It’s informal, sociable and free. We just ask that you book your attendance in advance. We will supply a light lunch and re-imburse your travel and expenses.
