Retro and Proud
24 November – 19 January 2026
NL Arts is proud to present new work by North Lanarkshire-based artist Jule McDonald, currently studying for a BA in Contemporary Art at the University of the Highlands and Islands. In Retro & Proud, Jule explores feminist perspectives on ageing, menopause and the societal invisibility of older women. With honesty and humour, her work challenges outdated narratives, asking: Who am I now? What is my value? As Jule says, “Older women are not just babysitters for grandchildren; they are valuable resources of knowledge and wisdom”. This exhibition reclaims space for older women as vital, wise and powerful -far more than often perceived caregivers, they are cultural contributors with voices that demand to be heard.
Venue opening: Monday – Saturday, 10am-4pm.
